[ARCHIVED] Commercial Structure Fire

On Friday, May 15, 2015 at 2:53 AM, four units of Russellville firefighters, including 3 engine companies and 1 truck company, under the command of Battalion Chief Brent Hamm, along with the Fire Chief and Fire Marshal’s Office, responded to a structure fire at 2407 North Arkansas Ave, Clarion Hotel. Upon arrival, fire companies found smoke and fire coming from the roof area of the main building. Firefighters entered the structure and laddered the building, quickly extinguishing the fire and confining it to the soffit area on the East side. The area of origin sustained moderate fire damage with the remainder of the structure sustaining light smoke damage. The front hotel clerk escaped without injury. Due to building separation, the overnight residents were in no danger nor were they evacuated. No firefighters were injured as a result of the fire. Fire units remained on scene until 5:45 AM. Preliminary contents and property losses are unknown at this time. The cause of the fire is accidental, due to an electrical malfunction.
