RE: Covid-19 Vaccine

PRESS RELEASE

Per the ADH guidelines, individuals meeting the requirements of 1-B, which includes elderly people over 70 years of age, teachers, school staff, child care workers, and others, are eligible for vaccination. The city of Russellville and Pope County are working with our local pharmacies to ensure that the COVID-19 vaccine is being dispensed to those who are eligible.

To date, Pope County has received 2,200 vaccines. Of these, 2,010 vaccines have been given to our citizens. The remainder of these vaccines are in process of being provided to those eligible and more vaccines are scheduled to arrive this week.

The pharmacies in Pope County that are dispensing the vaccine are:

  • Rose Drug of Russellville
  • Newton Pharmacy
  • Cobb's Westside Pharmacy
  • C&D Drug Store
  • Hector Pharmacy
  • Atkins Family Pharmacy

It is important that we acknowledge the immense level of effort that our local pharmacists have put forth to disseminate the vaccines quickly and efficiently. They have certainly demonstrated a commitment to the community in taking on this immense task.

The citizens of Pope County should understand that limitations currently exist in the amount of the vaccine that is being provided to the county. The availability of the vaccine is prohibiting us from getting people vaccinated more quickly. The city of Russellville and Pope County will continue to monitor the vaccine dissemination efforts within our community and will make adjustments as necessary to ensure that the vaccines are provided in as efficient a manner as possible.
