On Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 3:02 PM, five units of Russellville firefighters, including 2 engine companies, Squad 1 and Brush 1, under the command of Battalion Chief Chris Vick, responded to a grass fire at Weir Road. Upon arrival, fire companies found approximately 5 acres on fire. Firefighters faced access issues but were able to utilize brush trucks and capitalize on wind direction, to suppress the fire. Russellville received mutual aid from Crow Mountain and Pottsville Fire Departments, along with the Arkansas Forestry Commission's fire plow. Fire units remained on scene until 4:45 PM. Property losses are unknown at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
